Criteria for Joining

If you are serious about your business and would like to join the British Association of Removers you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

For companies based in the UK:

  • That you are in the business of Removals and Storage (that you are not an Agent or a Freight Forwarder).
  • That you hold a valid/current Standard National Operators License.
  • That you can provide evidence of your financial trading stability.
  • That you have been trading for at least 12 months.
  • That you take staff training seriously.
  • That you have adequate insurances in place.
  • That you will adhere to our Code of Practice.
  • That you will submit to physical inspection of premises, vehicles, staff documentation and working practices.
  • To join the specialist Overseas or Commercial Groups additional criteria apply. Please check with BAR for more details.

For companies based outside the UK:

In order to apply for membership as an International Associate of BAR, a company must:

  • be a member of FIDI, OR
  • be a member of its own country's recognized international group, OR
  • if there is no recognized local international group then an applicant must supply sponsors from two UK based companies, already belonging to the BAR Overseas Group.
