History of BAR

The British Association of Removers has been in existence since 1900.

The Association in its modern form was created in 1972 as a result of the unification of two older organisations, the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers (NAFWR) and the British Association of Overseas Furniture Removers (BAOFR).

  • 1900 - The Furniture Warehouseman & Removers Association Ltd (FWRA) formed.
  • 1924 - The British Association of International Furniture Removers (BAIFR) formed.
  • 1936 - FWRA becomes the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers Ltd (NAFWR).
  • 1954 - BAIFR becomes the British Association of Overseas Furniture Removers (BAOFR).
  • 1972 - NAFWR and BAOFR amalgamate to become the British Association of Removers (BAR).
